This may not be enough to cover your expenses so find out before you purchase the policy; you may be able to purchase a higher paying policy for little more money.
How long do disability benefits continue? Some disability insurance policies will only pay for a certain period of time; after that, you're on your own. Find out how long the benefits last before buying any type of disability insurance.
Can you expand your coverage later? If you're strapped for cash now, but still want to have at least some disability insurance, many policies allow you to expand you coverage later, when your financial situation is better.
